Mobile Tips And Tricks

Can I transfer my contacts from my old phone to my new one?

Depending on the kind of phone you're using, it can become a challenge. Most smart phones, however, use the same programmes in the PC and synchronise. For example, phones such as Blackberry, Palm, Trio, and Windows Mobile Devices all synchronise with Outlook. Being that they do synchronize with Outlook, finding another phone that syncs with Outlook would make the phone book transfer that much easier. However, older phones don't really have the PC connectivity that newer phones do. So, it also depends on how old your phone is and what type of PC connectivity it's capable of doing. Another way of transferring your phone book is just by using the SIM card on a GSM carrier. You can copy your phone book onto the SIM card itself, and wherever you take the SIM card, the phone will actually read the phone book contents off the card itself; on most phones, it gives you the option to copy it from the SIM card memory onto the phone memory, which sometimes gives you more options than you would have if you just left the numbers stored in the SIM card. For instance, on the SIM card, you only have room to throw the name and telephone number. On most phones, you have the ability to put your first name, last name, mobile number, e-mail, and things of that nature as well.

What are some good password tips for use with my mobile devices?

The best tip I can give you for deciding you mobile device password is to keep it short. The shorter your password is the better, in terms of easily using your device on a daily basis. However, if your mobile device's password is too short, then it's too easy to figure out. Use unique characters such as a question mark, exclamation mark or the pound sign. Alternate between capital letters, lowercase letters and numbers, making your mobile device password that much more difficult to figure out.

How do I fix scratches on my PmP and MP3 players?

There are products that exist in the marketplace that are specially made to remove scratches from different types of surfaces. These include an iPod scratch removal kit that will buff the aluminium at the back of the MP3 player, and remove all the swell marks on your iPod. This MP3 scratch removal kit also uses another material to clean up the front of the product and get rid of all the scratches and indentations on your screen. The product you can use in order to fix the scratch is determined by what material the surfaces of your PmP or MP3 player are made from.

How can I extend the battery life on my cell phone?

For most cell phones, locking the keypad puts the phone into a powersave mode where none of the lights come on until you unlock the keypad. As a result, if it's in your pocket and something accidentally pushes a button, the cell phone will not come on every time and waste the battery. Keep your phone keypad locked to extend battery life. If you are in an area where you know there is no coverage, turn your phone off. Cell phones use more battery power constantly searching for a network than they do when the device is off itself.
