How to Reset Read Only Files on a CD

Read only files do not allow you to alter or transfer them. If this is an issue for you when your trying to copy a file from CD to your computer, you can reset the read-only settings.

Step1

Open 'My Computer'

Step2

Right click the CD drive

Step3

Click 'Explore' from the drop down menu

Step4

Find the file you wish to use and drag that icon to your hard disk (C:).

Step5

Find the moved icon and right click. Choose 'Properties'.

Step6

At the bottom of this window you will see a section called 'Attributes'. Locate the "Read only" box and uncheck it.

Click Apply

Click OK

Step9

Now you can alter the document and save as you wish.
